OUR RAJA AMPAT RESTAURANT

The restaurant of our Papua Explorers Resort in Raja Ampat is certainly, apart from our dive centre, the heart of our operation! It is here that friends, dive buddies and families gather to enjoy a delicious meal and share their stories. New friendships are forged, laughter is shared, and Raja Ampat adventures are relived together in our restaurant.

The unique, round shape of our restaurant allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of Raja Ampat while dining.  You will never miss a sunrise or sunset and can appreciate the ocean and rainforest at the same time. Schools of fish are taking shelter below the restaurant. Sometimes during dinner time, we even spot baby sharks swimming in the shallows. At the beach behind the restaurant, the famous ‘walking shark’ (Epaulette Shark) can sometimes be observed.

Our restaurant is located right at our main jetty, so you will pass by it when you make your way from your water bungalow to the dive centre or spa. The restaurant is a non-smoking area and also a no-shoe-zone.

Breakfast in Raja Ampat

Delicious and healthy nutrition is very important. So our restaurant is the place where you start your Raja Ampat day in a peaceful atmosphere with a tasty breakfast. We begin serving breakfast at 7am in morning. On days with a transfer to Sorong we will however start even earlier to give our departing guests plenty of time for the most important meal of the day.

On our breakfast buffet we have various choices for all tastes. Each morning our chefs prepare fresh, homemade rolls and pastries, both savory and sweet. These can be enjoyed for example with cheese, sausages, and eggs of your preferred style. But we also offer vegan spreads such as guacamole or hummus, and of course there is toast, jam and Nutella.
Additionally, we have fresh tropical fruit and a fruit salad. They taste delicious with yogurt, oatmeal, granola or cereal. For those who would like to try Indonesian style breakfast, we also have either Nasi Goreng or Mie Goreng ready.

Further you can enjoy tropical juices and of course coffee and tea. Sometimes we prepare our homemade Jamu especially for breakfast. It is a healthy Indonesian drink made from turmeric and other ingredients and has a cleansing effect.

When you go out for diving or snorkeling on one of our boats during the morning, you will also have an opportunity for a second breakfast during the surface interval between two dives or snorkeling sessions. This is a great chance for enjoying further homemade snacks and pastries from our chefs!

Lunch and Afternoon Snack

Right after you hopped off from the boat, after your morning adventures in Raja Ampat, the next delicious meal is already waiting for you at our restaurant. Our lunch buffet starts at 1pm and has plenty of variety as well. Every day you can try different creations from our chefs. You will taste examples of traditional Indonesian cuisine as well as international comfort foods – all freshly prepared by our kitchen team.

In the afternoon we serve coffee tea and homemade snacks, like for example fried bananas. Usually we bring them from our restaurant to the dive center so you can enjoy them right there after your afternoon dive.

Dinner Time

An amazing day of diving and snorkeling in Raja Ampat will certainly make you hungry, so dinner will be ready for you starting from 7pm. Our restaurant is perfect to finish the day in a pleasant atmosphere. Chill out with dive buddies and maybe new friends, share stories and together relish yet another delicious meal.

We prepare tasty starters such as homemade soups and bread, as well as fresh salads. As main course, you can enjoy fresh fish from local fishermen, but also chicken and beef dishes. At least once a week we will have a barbeque night. Vegetarian and Vegan options are available as well. In case you have any other special dietary requirements, please let us know during the booking process.

Cold beer and soft drinks are available at our restaurant against a surcharge. Further we also have a wine and spirits menu.

Coffee Bar

Our latest addition to our restaurant is our Rocket Espresso machine and the friendly barista who is operating it expertly. Anytime during the day, he will create for you all tasty coffee varieties you can dream off. Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato and many more. Finishing them off creatively with a flower or even a manta ray decoration wherever possible. We use freshly ground, local Indonesian coffee and espresso, which has a wonderful aroma.

With all the coffee, please don’t forget to drink plenty of water! At our restaurant, as well as in your bungalow and also at the dive center, you will find water dispensers to refill your personal water bottle.

Other Things to Enjoy at Our Restaurant in Raja Ampat

Not only during mealtimes is our restaurant a great place to be. Comfy seating areas invite you for a hangout any time during the day. Coffee, tea and our cookie jar are available throughout the day. You can meet other guests, enjoy a chat, maybe share some marine life photos from the last dive. Our fish ID library is also located at the restaurant and might help you identify some species you have spotted here in Raja Ampat.

Further, we have a little souvenir shop where we offer some lovely take-home souvenirs. For example, Papua Explorers t-shirts, but also homemade Papuan statues, jewelry, and diving accessories such as drybags. Additionally, you can buy some necessities in case you forgot them at home.

The restaurant is also a good place to chat with our managers and ask our resort staff for help, as the main office is right next to the restaurant.
